How do I get paid?

You never touch the LeadsPlease® portion.
Who owns the chargeback risk if a customer's card is stolen or disputes the charge?
You do — because you are the merchant of record. With Stripe Connect direct charges, the cardholder's bank disputes against your Stripe account, the disputed funds are pulled from your balance, and Stripe's standard chargeback dispute process is yours to handle. LeadsPlease® does not refund the 80% data-and-fulfillment fee on a chargeback — we delivered the data, so the payment dispute is between you, your customer, and Stripe. The good news: Stripe Radar is included free on every Connect account and blocks the vast majority of fraudulent attempts before they ever charge. Most resellers in our cohort run a chargeback rate well under 0.5% — the SMB direct-mail / list-data audience is one of the lowest-fraud segments in e-commerce.
How is sales intent data different from a normal mailing list?
A normal mailing list is "people who match these demographic filters." Intent data is "people who match these demographics and have actively been showing buying signals on the open web in the last 7–30 days." How much does it cost to become a LeadsPlease® reseller?

$0 up-front and $0/month. There is no monthly software fee, no minimum order, no long-term contract. LeadsPlease® takes a 20% application fee on each completed list order; you keep the other 80% as the merchant of record. If your customers don't buy, you don't owe anything.

How do mailing-list resellers actually make money?

You set retail prices on your branded checkout. LeadsPlease® takes a 20% revenue share on the data side; you take the other 80% as gross margin. Most of our top resellers run blended take rates of 30–55% after their own ad and fulfillment costs — on a category where customers re-buy every campaign, every month.

What kinds of mailing lists can my customers build through DataWidget®?

What about chargebacks and bad credit cards?

You are the merchant of record, which means chargeback risk is 100% yours — the same as any direct-to-consumer e-commerce business. The flip side: if a card declines, no order is created, no fee is charged to anyone, and no list is generated. Every paid order through DataWidget® went through real-time card authorization on your account.

Can I customize the DataWidget® for my brand?

Yes — logo, colors, fonts, domain (lists.yourcompany.com), per-list pricing, which databases show up, which demographic filters are exposed, even the AI assistant's persona and product knowledge. Customization happens in your reseller dashboard — no developers required for the basics.

Is this just for U.S. direct mail, or does it cover digital too?

Both. Every list you pull through DataWidget® is downloadable as CSV with names, addresses, phones (where opted-in), emails (where opted-in) and household-level demographic appends. You are the merchant of record for every sale. Your customers' cards are charged directly on your Stripe Connect account at full retail. After we click Submit, you'll be redirected to Stripe to either link an existing account or create a new one in 3–4 minutes.

What the embed parameters mean

  • affiliatecode=lp — locks in LeadsPlease® pricing, minimums, and quantity breaks for every count and add-to-cart shown to your customers. Don't change this.
  • reseller=<your-slug> — tells our system which Stripe Connect account collects payment + which brand styling to apply (your logo + colors).
  • brandname, skin, logourl — auto-loaded from your reseller record after Stripe Connect onboarding. You don't need to put them in the embed.

How payments flow when a customer buys

  1. Customer hits Add to Cart in the embedded widget on your site.
  2. Widget redirects to your branded checkout. Customer pays the full retail price by card — their statement shows your business name.
  3. The Stripe charge lands directly on your Stripe Connect account.
  4. Stripe atomically transfers 80% of the charge to LeadsPlease® as the platform fee. The remaining 20% stays in your balance.
  5. Once Stripe confirms charge.succeeded, our system fulfills the list via the LeadsPlease® API and emails the download link to the buyer (subject line + reply-to are your brand).
  6. If the card fails, no charge happens, no transfer happens, and no list is generated. Atomic.
Customer support flows back to us

Replies to the buyer's order-confirmation email come to our support team by default (we'll handle the technical questions and refund-policy stuff under your brand). You can opt to take support yourself in your dashboard settings if you'd rather.

Webhooks & advanced (optional)

Resellers who want to pull order data into their own CRM can subscribe to webhook events from their dashboard. Available events: order.created, order.paid, order.fulfilled, order.failed, payout.sent. Each event includes the buyer email, order amount, your share, and the list metadata. Webhook secret is rotatable from the dashboard.

Testing your embed before going live

Append &testmode=true to the iframe URL while you're styling the placement. In test mode the widget runs against the LeadsPlease® TEST database (free, no charges, real counts) so you can iterate on layout without touching live data. Remove the param when you're ready to take real orders.
